How to Setup Create Google Analytics Account in 2023

Here is the step by step guide of setting up google analytics for your WordPress website.

Search for the Keyword “Google Analytics on the google” or directly visit this link:  https://analytics.google.com/analytics/web/#/ 

Click on start measuring 

Analytics Dashboard will show you 5 different steps and you need to fill the information in each of these steps carefully

Step 1:  Add Account Name  and check the check boxes according to your requirements.

Account Name can be any: Business Name, Website Name or anything you want.  Once done click on the Next Button.

Step 2: Create a Property:  Add Property Name here like your business name.

It also shows an advanced option to create a universal Analytics Property but it is of no use now because Google is discontinuing it from the 1st of July 2023. So just add the property name, select your time zone, currency and click on the next button.

Step 3:  Describe your business 

Here google will ask you to select your business category and business size, you can select it accordingly.

Step 4: Choose Your Objectives

Just Click on the checkboxes which are important for you. (Purpose of using google analytics)

Once you click on create, a popup will appear as shown below:

Tick the checkbox and click on I Accept.

Step 5:  Start Collecting Data



Click on the Web as we are setting up for a website, all options are the same till here even if you are setting google analytics for Android App or an IOS App.

Once you click on Web Tab a popup will appear as shown below. 

Add Website URL and Stream Name then click on Create Stream 

Step 6: Once Stream is Created click on View Tag Options. 

Here it will ask us to install Google Tag into your website, you can use Sitekit Plugin, MonsterInsights Plugin, any third party plugin  or even can add the code manually.

In this blog we will be adding the analytics code manually. 

Once you click on install manually it will show you the code, copy the code

Step 7: Login to your WordPress dashboard. 

Click on Appearance and Theme File Editor

Step 8:  Search for header.php file and open it 

Click on Update File and login to your analytics accounts.

Stay on your website and go to Google Analytics Account and check real time users. If the account is not showing any users then wait for few minutes as it may take time to reflect traffic.
